Xinit Systems started producing solutions to address data storage and information management needs in networked environments in early 2000. Since then we have filled out our product and service portfolio with a vast array of solutions to meet just about every shared storage requirement at enterprise, departmental, Internet and Application service provision and technical computing levels.

Our storage networking bona fides includes the in-house development of a full-fledged Open Source network storage management utility - Openfiler. The Openfiler project thrives under the guidance and support of Xinit Systems' software development team, with useful feedback from the user community being incorporated regularly into the application framework in the form of new features and enhancements. Openfiler is a Linux-based NAS (CIFS, NFS, HTTP, DAV) / SAN (iSCSI, Fibre Channel) operating system with a powerful web-based management interface combined to make a compelling block and file-based networked storage solution.

The beauty of Openfiler, aside from its support of all industry standard storage networking protocols, is its ability to run on any industry-standard hardware. This means x86 and x64 platforms from Intel and AMD. Indeed, Xinit Systems SharqStor NS NAS appliances are built using x64 processors from AMD corporation and integrate the Openfiler Storage Operating System to deliver highly performant and affordable NAS/SAN solutions.
