SharqStor NS 2080OverviewThe SharqStor NS 2080 is a powerful entry-level to mid-range Network Attached Storage appliance solution. It supports up to 4TB of RAID protected storage and can scale in processing power to four CPU cores making it ideal for use in high performance and high throughput clustering deployments.
Quad Core ProcessingThe SharqStor NS 2080 has two processor sockets with support for the latest dual-core 64-bit Opteron processing technology from AMD. Double the sockets and double the cores means that you can have up to four(4) processor cores in just 3.5" of 2U chassis. Play it cool with the low-voltage processors or live in the superfast lane with dual-core technology for the absolute maximum in performance. Whether you are storing PDF and Word documents in an office network, or running computational fluid dynamics code in a cluster environment, the multitude of processor options will ensure you get the perfect tool for the job. Big on CapacityWith up to 4TB of SATA-II storage spread across eight 500GB disks, the SharqStor NS 2080 delivers a lot of storage capacity and I/O scalability in a small package. There is also room to grow in the future by up to 50% with new 750GB disk drives available in Q306. Disk drives are encased in hot-swappable disk modules which allows for maximum uptime in the event of a disk failure - drives can be swapped in and out of the chassis without powering down the system. The 3Gbps SATA-II disks support native command queuing and operate at 7200RPM to ensure massive amounts of data can be pumped around the system and your network at lightening speeds. RAID - Ensuring Data IntegrityA powerful eight-port switched-architecture hardware RAID controller with a battery backup module guarantees data integrity at all times. Hardware RAID levels supported are 0,1,5, 6 and 10. The powerful hardware RAID controller uses a point-to-point architecture to maximize I/O performance which is fully taken advantage of with the disk drives operating at 3Gbps throughput levels. The RAID battery backup unit ensures that any cached data is committed to disk in the event of unplanned power outage. This RAID feature combined with the journaled filesystem maximises data integrity and availability for mission critical deployments. Availability2All critical subsystems in the SharqStor NS 2080 are designed with availability and maximum uptime in mind. Support for hot-swap disks configured to RAID 5 and RAID 10 levels. Redundant hot-swappable system cooling fans which allow continuous system operation even when degraded. Redundant hot-swap power supply modules which continue to power the system in the event of a single power module failure - an administrator can replace the faulty module whilst the system is in full use. A battery backup unit attached to the RAID controller ensures that no cached data is lost for a period of up to 72-hours after loss of power. |
